As the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) prepares for its much-anticipated congress this July, political activity is heating up, with key endorsements already shaping the race for the party’s vice presidency.

Dr. Kesitegile Gobotswang, former Vice President and a long-standing BCP stalwart representing Tswapong South in Parliament, has thrown his weight behind Dr. Unity Dow, the Member of Parliament for Kgatleng West. Signaling the seriousness of her campaign, Gobotswang has also taken on the role of Dow’s campaign manager, bringing valuable political experience and strategic insight to her bid.

Dr. Dow, who made headlines last year when she switched from the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) to the BCP, is gearing up to face off against Taolo Lucas, another veteran and influential party figure. Speaking to the Weekend Post, Dow expressed confidence in her campaign, emphasizing her dedication to strengthening the party’s base and broadening its reach. “I am focused on positioning the BCP for a successful general election in 2029. This means engaging those who are hesitant or have not yet aligned with party politics,” she said, underscoring her proactive approach to mobilizing support.
