The Botswana’s premier track stars will be notably absent from this year’s FNB Golden Grand Prix, dealing a significant blow to the continental meet’s prestige ahead of its kickoff tomorrow (Sunday).
Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo, 400m world champion Collen Kebinatshipi, and relay standout Bayapo Ndori have all withdrawn from the event, with organisers citing unresolved disputes over appearance fees. Glody Dube, founder of Golden Door Sports Agency and organizer of the Golden Grand Prix, says the trio’s absence highlights deeper tensions between top athletes and local event structures.
