Preparations are gathering pace for the inaugural Spring Highlight Dialogue Series set for September 3rd at the Gaborone International Conversion Center (GICC), where the Chairperson of Nelson Mandela Foundation and Chancellor of Nelson Mandela University, Dr Grace Naledi Pandor will be the guest speaker.
The event organizer and also chairperson of The Summit Organization, Bongani Moyo said the Spring Highlight Programme was conceived from the desire to celebrate and recognize the remarkable contributions of women in leadership, business, and public service. He said Botswana continues to produce exceptional women who are driving economic growth, shaping policy, and leading transformative change across various sectors. Moyo said the vision by The Summit Organization is for Spring Highlight Dialogue to an annual platform where women who are making contributions within their respective fields are celebrated.
Moyo said with women occupying a significant number of senior leadership and executive positions in the country, they felt it was important to create a platform that not only celebrates their achievements but also inspires the next generation of leaders. He explained that the aim of the event is to spotlight excellence, encourage meaningful dialogue, and empower aspiring women through shared experiences and leadership insights from accomplished role model.
Moyo said Dr Pandor has been invited to give the key note address during the Spring Highlight Dialogue because she is one of Africa’s most respected leaders and a distinguished stateswoman whose career exemplifies excellence, resilience, and impactful leadership. He said Dr Pandor’s journey from her formative journey in Botswana to becoming an influential leader on the African continent is both inspiring and relevant to the audience they seek to engage.
Moyo said they have admired and followed Dr Pandor’s work for some time and have long envisioned collaborating with her. He said when planning the programme, they believed there could be no more fitting speaker to share insights on leadership, public service, diplomacy, and personal growth. He said Dr Pandor’s story transcends sectors and serves as an inspiration to women across both the public and private spheres.
He said going forward, they intend to host the programme annually, featuring influential women across Africa and beyond, while expanding its reach and impact. Moyo said the objectives is to build a lasting platform that inspires leadership, promotes mentorship, and facilitates valuable conversations around women’s advancement and contribution to society.
Moyo said the Spring Highlight is targeted at women in leadership positions, including chief executive officers (CEOs), directors, executives, entrepreneurs, senior managers, policymakers and professional across both the public and private sectors. He said it also seeks to engage aspiring leaders who are looking to learn from established role models. Moyo said the response to the event has been overwhelmingly positive. Adding that the interest to attend the event is from business leaders, and organizations who recognize the importance of creating spaces where women can share experiences, celebrate achievements, and inspire future generations.
