Botswana to achieve 50–50 energy mix target by 2030

Botswana is on track to realize its ambitious goal of a 50–50 energy mix by 2030, as the government intensifies investments in renewable energy to tackle ongoing electricity challenges and reduce dependency on imported power. 

At the groundbreaking ceremony for the 500-megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Maun, Minister of Minerals and Energy Bogolo Kenewendo affirmed that the nation is well positioned to meet, and potentially surpass, its renewable energy targets outlined in the National Development Plan 12 (NDP 12).
