Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Limited (BTC) has officially launched its new consumer brand campaign, “Own Your Mark,” a bold and inspiring call to action encouraging every customer to embrace their individuality, pursue their ambitions and make a lasting impact in their respective fields.

BTC also proudly announced its partnership with internationally acclaimed athlete Collen Kebinatshipi, whose discipline, resilience and excellence embody the spirit of the campaign.

This collaboration draws a powerful parallel between athletics and life, where preparation meets opportunity, reinforcing BTC’s role in helping customers reach peak performance in a connected world. Own Your Mark is therefore a national movement designed to inspire confidence, creativity and progress.

Introducing the campaign, BTC Chief Marketing Officer, Mr Mike Siachitema stated that Own Your Mark is underpinned by a series of transformative initiatives, next-generation solutions and affordable, high-quality products and services designed to enhance the overall customer experience. “We are proud to have onboarded Athletics World Champion and Botswana-born talent, Collen Kebinatshipi as our Brand Ambassador,” said Siachitema. The Own Your Mark campaign, underpinned by #KgwaMollo reflects both the speed that Kebinatshipi brings to the track, the speed and reliability of BTC’s network, connectivity and services.

Mr. Siachitema further highlighted that at the heart of the campaign is a suite of innovative products and services tailored to meet evolving customer needs. The campaign also marks the introduction of new, affordable and unlimited prepaid mobile offers, giving customers access to unlimited data, unlimited calls and unlimited SMS’s at competitive rates of P19 daily, P69 weekly and P199 monthly. “With these unlimited prepaid mobile offers, we want our customers to experience our network at truly affordable prices while giving them the opportunity to stay connected without limits,” explained Siachitema.

Furthermore, BTC has introduced eSIM and eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) capabilities, offering a simple, fully digital self-service solution that allows customers to instantly register and activate their BTC mobile line without the need for a physical SIM card. This enables fast, secure onboarding while delivering greater convenience and accessibility.  Mr Siachitema stated that in addition, customers will be able to personalise their own BTC numbers.

Additionally, to ensure that every customer owns a smartphone capable of accessing BTC’s modernised network, the company has brought the BTC Yarona 4G Smartphone to the market. “The BTC Yarona 4G Smartphone is an affordable, high-quality device that supports digital inclusion by enabling customers to upgrade from 2G voice only devices to a worldclass 4G smartphone” Mr Siachitema further explained. He further stated that “our improved products and services have been deliberately introduced to the market to make the customer journey seamless”, he concluded.

To further drive the campaign, BTC has been conducting a network modernisation programme, upgrading towers nationwide from legacy infrastructure to 4G capabilities and 5G-ready technologies. The programme will extend network reach, increase capacity, and modernise GSM infrastructure with over 599 sites targeted for completion by end of July 2026.

The result: improved efficiency, wider coverage and faster, more reliable connectivity that brings digital services to more communities across Botswana.
