During a powerful address at the Serowe Distict Full Council meeting today, the Vice Chancellor of BUAN, Professor Ketlhatlogile Mosepele emphasized the importance of collaboration and partnerships in achieving sustainable development goals for Botswana. In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor shared BUAN’s strategic vision to foster new partnerships that would significantly benefit the livelihoods of the Serowe District and contribute to Botswana’s socio-economic growth. “Our mission is to add value to the lives of Batswana by leveraging the power of knowledge and community engagement. We cannot do this alone. We need you, we need partners, to work with us in developing our country,” he said.

He continued by stressing that sustainability is the heart of BUAN’s operational ethos, with “Inspiring Sustainable Growth” as their guiding principle. BUAN is committed to making Botswana food and nutrition secure, and he believes that collaboration is key to reaching this goal. “The future of Botswana lies in the Green Economy and Renewable Energy, and BUAN is actively working towards that future. We want to build a self-sufficient, resilient future, but we cannot do it without you. Together, we will walk far,” added Professor Mosepele.

His address also highlighted potential areas of collaboration, including: Sustainable Livestock Management: Leveraging BUAN’s expertise to improve livestock farming in the district. Agro-Tourism: Developing vocational training programs to empower youth and adults in the growing agro-tourism sector. Climate Change Adaptation: Co-developing strategies to build climate resilience, including introducing climate-resilient crops. Youth Empowerment: Supporting youth entrepreneurship through BUAN’s INCUHIVE program and an upcoming SECHABA program, supporting youth entrepreneurship. Sechaba is an initiative that will focus on developing start-ups for out-of-school youth and will be implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs. Youth will be assisted and mentored to develop start-ups in the Agriculture and Natural Resources sector for 3 – 12 months

Professor Mosepele called on local stakeholders to join BUAN in creating a brighter, more sustainable future for Botswana. “We are ready to walk together with you, for the benefit of our people, for Batswana, and for Botswana’s future,” he concluded.
We look forward to the exciting possibilities that lie ahead through these meaningful partnerships. Let’s work together to build a sustainable future!
