Falcon Metal Resources Botswana (FMRB) has become the first 100% citizen-owned company to list on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).
FMRB successfully listed on the ASX this Wednesday as part of a capital-raising exercise to expand exploration across its mining licences in Botswana’s various mineral belts. The company joined a group of international commercial heavyweights, with its initial public offering (IPO) taking place in the same timeframe as those of Israel’s Identifai Genetics and Australia’s Innovaero Technologies, among others.
FMRB’s listing is being undertaken through its Australian partner, Jacaranda Natural Resources (JNR), in an arrangement that will see the companies combine resources, expand exploration and develop tenements in both countries.
Both FMRB and JNR have strong credentials. They are prospecting in promising mineral districts and operate in jurisdictions ranked among the world’s top ten for mining. The newly released Fraser Institute Annual Survey of Mining Jurisdictions rates both jurisdictions highly for mining-policy factors such as political stability, the quality of geological databases and infrastructure.
FMRB is active in Botswana’s copper, gold, diamond, iron ore and strategic minerals sectors.
“The company is focused on identifying, advancing and creating value from high-potential mineral exploration opportunities. It has already demonstrated its project-generation capability through the origination and advancement of eight Botswana exploration assets, which progressed through the Jacaranda Natural Resources listing pathway,” the company stated in a document seen by this publication.
Falcon added that it is now focused on building its next-generation independent portfolio across Botswana’s highly prospective copper, gold, diamond and iron ore provinces.
Its licensed tenements include PL 245/2025 on the Kalahari Copperbelt, which lies along the D’Kar–Ngwako Pan Formation contact, a key geological horizon associated with sediment-hosted copper-silver mineralisation. The tenement is within an active copper district, alongside the Cobre/BHP Kitlanya East and Khoemacau Zone 5 exploration and mining corridors.
FMRB also noted that BHP’s investment in Cobre’s Kitlanya project and Sandfire’s operating Motheo complex demonstrate the scale of ongoing exploration and development in the district.
The company is undertaking geophysical and geochemical targeting across its PL 245/2025 licence. Its Moiyabana iron ore project is located on the PL 119/2025 tenement. The project covers 675.92 square kilometres in the Mahalapye–Shoshong iron province in the Central District.
There, the company is targeting banded iron formation-hosted mineralisation within the Shoshong Formation and related Proterozoic successions. The area offers an attractive infrastructure setting for future exploration and development. Current exploration work includes geological mapping, geophysics, sampling, drilling and resource definition.
In the diamond sector, licence PL 181/2024 is among Falcon’s flagship assets, located in the Orapa Kimberlite Field.
“Our world-class Orapa Kimberlite Field portfolio is led by PL 181/2024, which includes a kimberlite pipe covering more than 25 hectares, as well as other Boteti-Orapa targets. The portfolio also includes the BK54 and BK55 kimberlites, located approximately 1.5 kilometres from the Karowe diamond mine,” the company stated.
Historical exploration in 2006 recorded diamond recoveries from both kimberlites, including 18 stones from BK54 and 22 from BK55. FMRB is applying modern geological, gravity and magnetic modelling to identify and prioritise additional targets within the Orapa-Boteti system.
FMRB is also developing opportunities in gold, copper and strategic minerals, including a new pipeline of projects sourced through its broader project-generation network.
The company says its operating model is built around project generation, disciplined exploration, staged value creation and multiple commercial pathways, including strategic partnerships, asset-level transactions and future public-market opportunities.
Meanwhile, its Australian partner, JNR, also operates across several licensed sites. These include the White Cockatoo project, which has strong copper, gold and porphyry potential. Jacaranda is also pursuing copper and gold exploration at Tea Tree, a large-scale discovery opportunity.
