Township Rollers are experiencing a surge in commercial success, securing a series of lucrative partnerships that promise to bolster the club’s financial standing ahead of the 2026/27 season. The 16-time league champions have aggressively expanded their commercial portfolio, landing deals with Bet267, Italian sportswear giant Diadora, and retail chain Options, while also unveiling a new Motswana-owned front-shirt sponsor.

This marks a significant turnaround for a club that has weathered financial difficulties in recent years, including unpaid player wages and administrative instability. At the heart of this commercial push is a two-year agreement with Bet267, guaranteeing Rollers P2 million over the 2026/27 and 2027/28 seasons. Yet, the guaranteed sum may be just the beginning.

Bet267, now the club’s official betting partner and shirt sponsor, has structured the deal to offer additional revenue opportunities beyond the P1 million annual payment. Mpho Chamo, a director at Bet267, explained that the partnership was designed to create new income streams for the club. “Instead of just paying sponsorship money, we are creating a commercial channel for Township Rollers for them to be able to make money for themselves as a team, over and above what we are committing,” he said. The collaboration will extend beyond shirt branding to include match-day activations, pitch-side advertising, digital campaigns, promotions, and fan engagement.

For Rollers, the challenge now is to capitalize on their vast national following and transform it into a stronger commercial asset. The Bet267 deal coincides with the club’s 65th anniversary, adding momentum to one of Botswana’s most storied football brands. Rollers chairman Pabalinga expressed satisfaction with the partnership’s alignment to the club’s values. “As Township Rollers, a club that has its roots in Botswana, we are delighted to partner with a company that has its heart in the right place, that promotes Botswana and its people for the betterment of their livelihoods both in sports and community development,” he said.

The commercial momentum does not stop there. On Thursday, Rollers announced a multi-million-pula sponsorship with a Motswana-owned smart metering company led by businessman Hope Kontle. The firm will feature prominently on the front of the Rollers jersey during the 2026/27 season, becoming a major new partner. Specializing in smart metering solutions for energy and water management across Africa, the company operates in Southern, West, and East Africa.

This partnership carries added significance due to Kontle’s reputation as a passionate Rollers supporter, lending a personal dimension to the commercial relationship. Earlier, the club secured one of the largest technical sponsorships in Botswana football history through a five-year deal with Diadora, the Italian sportswear brand.

Valued at approximately P20 million, the Diadora deal includes the supply of playing kits, training wear, and technical apparel worth about P4 million per season. This agreement is expected to ease operational costs by providing essential equipment, freeing resources to focus on football development and squad strengthening.

Another revenue channel is the club’s retail partnership with Options, appointed as the official distributor of Rollers merchandise in Botswana. Official jerseys and club gear will be sold through 26 Options outlets nationwide. This deal is projected to generate about P40,000 per month, translating to nearly P480,000 annually if sustained.

For a club recently beset by financial challenges, this commercial resurgence could not come at a better time. Rollers are not merely accumulating sponsors; they are constructing a broader commercial ecosystem around the Popa brand.

If these partnerships deliver as expected, the club could enter its 65th year with more than just new sponsorships; a stronger financial foundation to pursue success on the pitch.
