Absa Bank Botswana has pledged its support for the 4th edition of the Summer Kids Marathon (SKM) with a sponsorship of P1,950,000.00 over the next three years.
Absa’s Retail Director, Valeta Mthimkhulu, underscored the importance of nurturing children’s talents from an early age.
She emphasized that the bank’s involvement goes beyond sponsorship, as they also aim to equip young participants with financial literacy skills.
Reflecting on the marathon’s growth, SKM co-founder Martin Fani noted its expansion from 320 participants in 2022 to an expected 1,550 in 2025.
He also highlighted the event’s ongoing community impact, referencing support provided to Kareng School Hostel in 2024.
For the 2025 edition, organizers plan to assess participating communities to provide school uniforms, books, and essential items for children with disabilities.
Additionally, 70% of the event’s merchandise is already prepared for distribution.
Through this sponsorship, Absa Bank Botswana and SKM aim to foster lasting change by promoting physical activity, education, and community development.
