Rakgare appoints BNSC board

The new Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Tumiso Rakgare has appointed a new workforce that will be tasked in running and administering the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC).

The previous board was dissolved in October, few weeks before the General Elections. According to a press statement the board will be led by Marumo Morule as the Chairman. Morule has served as the President of Botswana Softball Association and has also left some footsteps in regional offices where he worked as the Vice President in the zone VI softball structures.

Botsang Tshenyego also forms part of the board in his capacity as the President of the Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC). He was voted into office in 2017, after beating both Ookeditse Malesu and Tebogo Lebotse Sebego. Tuelo Serufho is another member of the board. He comes in as the Chief Executive Officer of BNOC. He is therefore a returnee of this board. A notable name is that of Tebogo Lebotse Sebego. She comes in as a Specialist in Communication and Sport Administration.  Sebego is also the former President of the Netball Association.

Neoyame Katisange is included to hold the portfolio of Women and Sport in Botswana. She was formerly with Chess federation and her successes are immeasurable. Other members are Khaulani Fichani, who will represent all the BNSC affiliates. Geoffery Gare comes in as a representative of the Ministry of Youth. The Paralympic Sports Association of Botswana (PASSOBO) is represented by David Moatshe.

Simon Coles is also a board member, who will be carrying the responsibilities of the Ministry of Basic Education, while the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is represented by Steven Ludick. The Ministry of Sports says the members are well rounded sports administrators and will carry sport to greater heights.

“The appointed members are highly competent individuals who are capable of providing oversight and strategic direction to the BNSC. They are tasked with leading Botswana sport to competitiveness on the world stage through good governance, sound administration, effective sport development programs, and an overall athlete centered approach.”
