Rollers set to sack Trucha

Township Rollers management is expected to cut Thomas Trucha’s tenure as club head coach, this following a recorded string of poor performances that consequently saw him falling below expected Rollers’ standards.

WeekendSport gathers that the Club’s investor, Jagdish Shah together with his committee has decided that Trucha’s stay is untenable and he should be relieved of his duties soon. Information gleaned from various Rollers’ sources indicate that Trucha, who hails from Czech Republic, was allowed to limp off as Rollers coach before and after Police XI match played a week ago. This publication learns that Rollers management committee gathered shortly after the match to decide Trucha’s fate.

It is reported that those present at the meeting were; Shah who is also the President of the team, Khumo Masonya, the club’s Secretary General, Phempheretlhe Pheto the club Media Liaison together with Sydney Magagane who is the club’s General Manager.  Sources maintained that the committee unanimously reached an agreement to trigger the fall of the coach who was previously with Orapa United.

But when asked about the alleged meeting, Pheto denied any information that concerns the sacking of the coach. He also repudiated ever attending any meeting that decided the future of the coach. Instead he referred this publication to the club’s Secretary General for further enquiry. “I know nothing about the future of Trucha. I was never part of the meeting you are talking about. But I think it is best you ask Masonya, since you imply that he was also present,” Pheto said.

Rollers is said to have lined up an unnamed European coach to watch the club’s next game a week from now.  Having gone for international recess, the team will return to play an away Mascom top 8 quarterfinal first leg away match against Molepolole City Stars.
It seems Trucha’s future is now in the palms of Shah.

The decision to sack him now rests on him alone.  On Saturday, the investor called some of Rollers senior players to his office. The intention, sources say, was to get a feel about the coach from players’ side. It emerged that the players were somehow on the fence regarding Trucha’s competency. It is alleged that Shah asked them if he should fire the coach. Players said it was up to him to take that decision but they categorically stated that, “there are some things he is not doing right.”

Sources told WeekendSport that Simisane Mathumo, Ofentse Nato, Segolame Boy and Captain Maano Ditshupo were in attendance of the Saturday meeting. Trucha was recruited to replace Rudoph Zapata, who was sacked after bringing home the fourth consecutive BTC premiership title. To this date, the Czech Republican has played 9 games and won 6 of them. He was beaten by log leaders Security Systems, who are in the hands of Chico Daniel Nare. Rollers is on position 2 with 20 points, 5 shy from Systems.

It is further said that Trucha has dangerously lost control of the dressing room, where his team is deeply divided. It is reported that his latest decision to sideline two of Rollers fan favorite players has actually complicated his stay as the head coach. Sources at Rollers state that midfield dynamo Mothusi Cooper- who has indiscipline issues- together with Edwin Moalosi have all broken ranks with the coach.

This has also affected other players within Rollers camp who apparently enjoy playing alongside Cooper and Moalosi. The coach’s decision to sideline Moalosi has even forced the player to write a resignation letter, sources claim. It is not yet clear if Rollers management has received Moalosi’s letter, but it is maintained that the player showed intentions to resign sometime last month.
