Chiefs deny Bright links

Publishing Date : 21 October, 2019

Mochudi Centre Chiefs have denied claims linking them to former national team coach, Major David Bright, who is said to be on his way to replace nomadic Oris Radipotsane. It became clear last week, that Radipotsane accepted a call to dump Chiefs for a lucrative Jwaneng Galaxy job.

Chiefs’ website page downplayed the strategy of roping in the Botswana born coach, where reports said Bright has, behind closed doors, been interviewed as possible replacement to Radipotsane.‘‘As far as we are concerned Bright is not in our thoughts, all that is needed is to look for a perfect replacement because Radipotsane went too early,’’ the club wrote. While the club management acknowledged the claims regarding the local mentor, they are also quick to distance themselves from what they term “corridor talk”.

But some in football circles believe the club is now only treading carefully around the issue of their new mentor, especially after last weekend’s 1 all draw, with newly promoted outfit Ncojane FC.  Prior to that weekend game, Radipotsane was on his last leg and was held to a goalless draw by rivals, Mochudi Rovers. Other reports however indicate that Center Chiefs are in fact looking into negotiating with Elias Chinyemba, who was formerly with TaFIC Sporting Club. Radipotsane started the season well. He took the league by a storm winning all his first three games and also keeping a clean sheet. That was when Magosi quickly regained country wide appeal. But the team’s performance began to slide in the last two games. They are yet to lose a game, but have surrendered pole position to Uniao Flamengo Santos, owing to two consecutive draws.

It is not clear if Chiefs will remain faithful to Chinyemba, but sources inside the club say the presence of Edwin Hlabangani Masire, the former club player has been more influential to the players than Radipotsane was in winning the games. Meanwhile, different sources have already reported that Chiefs is targeting Chinyemba and not Bright to replace Radipotsane. ‘‘Elias Chinyemba is being targeted by Kgatleng giants, Mochudi Centre Chiefs. The Mochudi based side is in search of Radipotsane’s replacement,’’ a source within Chiefs camp said. Center Chiefs is eyeing a quick return to the premier league after relegating last season. The sudden departure of experienced Radipotsane has of course left them pressing panic buttons.

The club is said to have resolved their internal wars that, without a doubt, triggered their fall. Now the anticipation will be enormous to see if Chinyemba will do what Radipotsane was doing before exiting the Chiefs scene.
