Hamptons 2020 confirmed

Publishing Date : 05 August, 2019

The waiting season is almost over. Hamptons 2020 has been confirmed. The organizer, Debbie Smith has told WeekendLife that the prestigious jazz festival is slated for March 28 in 2020. Local sensations such as Amantle brown are already in the line-up to thrill the crowd.

Smith stated that for the first time in Hampton’s history, the event will have a theme: "All things Bright and Beautiful."  Smith thought of this theme following benchmarking on some events abroad and in neighbouring countries where fans dress to kill just for the experience of the event. “This will be the first Jazz event with a fashionable theme as we tend to see this mainly in sporty events like horse racing or polo. I am a great fan of the sultry bright and cheerful aesthetic. Tropical colours are one of the key elements of creating the look,” she said.

She belies the on-trend look combines perfectly dressing-up for Jazz, from classic to contemporary to a style that is reminiscent of holidays, summer sun, and all things that make hearts sing with joy. This year, the public chose three local artists, mainly Sereetse & the Natives, Amantle Brown, Lister Boleseng by voting for them to stun the crowd as proposed by Hamptons.   “They have all played at The Hamptons and currently, our new Local Artists Consultant is currently discussing contracts with them,” she said.

On international acts, she said organisers are working around the clock to ensure that they bring on board the best international line up to cater for their Hamptonettes. “Once we add the international artists, DJ's and MCs, we will then reveal the first artists selection before October.  A second artist’s reveal will be sometime in December and January.  Again this will consist of local and international artists chosen by the public,” she said.

“We are going into a lot more pros for the experience as quite clearly we mastered bringing big international and local artists to the table. What really makes the venue stand out this time is how much detail we've gone into in order to give our patrons the full immersive experience a step back into time with our Jazz for the old and the millennials.  There are activities dotted around the venue which we will reveal in time soon.” Hamptons 2019 was cancelled due to a dispute with Gaborone City Council over Duma Grounds, However, next year, the event will be held at a different venue.

“Our President, Mokgweetsi Masisi and Minister Bogolo Kenewendo and the new cabinet reviewed festival times for the better of the entertainment industry. We should not have issues with permits any longer.  For that, The Hamptonettes and The Hamptons management are grateful for these changes without doubts,” Smith said. Hamptons 2020’s main aim according to Smith is to take Hamptonettes back to the good old days and conjure nostalgic memories.

“We are pleased to announce that we are bringing not just one but two bold champagne themes. One being Veuve Clicquot with its bright orange theme and another champagne being Moet Chandonice Imperial which is just bright white and black with bold statement pieces for those sweet moments whilst sipping on a selection of exquisite beverages and enjoying the hurly burly of live Jazz at The Hamptons,” she said.
