Transfer window paralyzes Rollers

The opening of the January transfer window period appears to be going all wrong for the defending champions Township Rollers - if at all the transfer news and rumours are anything to go by.

With the latest confirmation that the team’s stalwart defender Simisani Mathumo has completed a dream move to South African outfit Freestate Stars, there is overwhelming anticipation that Mathumo’ s partner, Mosha Gaolaolwe will also join a South African national first division side TS Galaxy.  Both Gaolaolwe and Mathumo’s moves are followed by that of youngster Gape Mohutshiwa. The defensive midfielder has never commanded a starring role at The Blues, but has always impressed when given an opportunity.  Mohutshiwa is also linked with an away move to TS Galaxy.

TS Galaxy is owned by Tim Sukazi who purchased Cape Town All Stars’ national league status. Sukazi is well known football agent who has good eye for young players. Galaxy once played in the ABC Motsepe League and is now based in KwaNdebele, Mpumalanga. Rollers, though wishing to defend both the premier league title and top 8 cup now is running against the clock to replace the stars before the window closes.

The dominant contribution between the trio tormented most teams in the past season and Rollers defence leaked few goals even when facing attacking teams. The three players grew up together and there is no prize for guessing how their understanding on the pitch was crafted by the now departed Rollers gaffer, Nikola Kavazovic. Rollers says they are eager to sign a new defender before the window closes to reinforce on the remaining players.

Once more, the name of forceful attacker Tumisang Orebonye is heard outside the boarders of the country.  Though his blue book is still with Rollers, Teenage as he is known in football circles, is reported to be monitored by FC Horoya, a club based in Guinea Conakry.   Should he find his way out of the club, Rollers will have dealt a devastating blow particularly that he was an icing on top of a cake on the attack format of the club.

He combined well with club leading goal scorer Joel Mogorosi, sometimes pulling up a menacing partnership. They were indeed thorns on the flesh of big teams like BDF XI, Gunners and Chiefs. Without doubt, and if these transfer rumour materialises, the whole spine of Township Rollers will be paralysed.

Another equally good player, Segolame Boy is rumoured to have attacked the eye of Free State Stars. Once again, Kavazovic is leading the recruitment panel, reports claim. The talented attacking midfielder is an instrumental playmaker on the heart of the field whenever Rollers was playing. He is the reason why Rollers produce top scorers each and every season.
