Legendary group ‘The Temptations’ coming to Botswana

Publishing Date : 10 July, 2018

The Temptations, an American vocal group who released a series of successful singles and albums with Motown Records during the 1960s and 1970s are set to make their debut performance in Botswana this July.

The legendary RnB and Soul Maestros will visit Botswana for the first time at the invitation of a sensational budding afro soul singer and guitarists Tshepiso Molosiwa, locally known as Tshepi Live. The visit is a result of the successful collaboration between Bernard Gibson, the Temptations lead singer and Tshepi on his debut album set to be launched on the 27th July 2018 at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC).

A statement from the band says following the extensively celebrated musical collaboration, between Tshepi and legendary Gibson for his contribution to the album, he found it befitting to invite The Temptations to Botswana so as to give Batswana a chance to appreciate their music and as part of enhancing collaboration between Botswana artists and the global community.

This much travelled group is described as The Emperors of Soul. Recognizable to a man, this unique blend of voices and blade- sharp choreography (“The Temptation Walk”!) is one of the defining legacies of Motown Records. The group has thirty- seven Top 40 hits to their credit, including fifteen Top 10 tunes and a quartet which soared to No. 1 On the R&B charts? They have fifteen No. 1 singles, and seventeen No. 1 albums. The titles alone summon memories beyond measure: “The Way You Do The Things You Do,” “My Girl,” “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg,” “I Wish It Would Rain,” “Cloud Nine,” “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me),” “Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone.” For always, the Temptations are sunshine on a cloudy day.

The much awaited concert promises nothing but a memorable experience as it will be used to officially launch Tshepi to an affluent market. Gibson together with his 5- piece band will perform on the evening of Friday 27th July 2018, at the GICC. The concert will also feature South African based Louis Mhlanga, a renowned guitarist who equally played a huge role in the production of Tshepi’s latest offering.

The grand show is expected to start at 1900 hrs and the tickets sells at P 350 standard and P 700 VIP. Tickets are available at The GRAND PALM RECEPTION, Shoprite Stores and Computicket. The show is proudly brought to you by Tshepi Live Entertainment in partnership with The Grand Palm, Prime Media, Eccentric Style Loft and ideal deal.
