Modern Tswana fashion launches Clothing Label

Modern Tswana fashion week will showcase Tswana Fusion clothing label pieces at its upcoming winter fashion show which is slated for May 26 at ChildLine Botswana.


Tswana Fusion clothing label fuses modern and traditional fashion trends together. The Tswana Fusion clothing label is made for the modern youth and elders who want to hold on to their fashion roots whilst being modern. In an interview with WeekendLife, the Founder and Organizer of the event, Nchidzi James Chikumo explained that their aim is to promote traditional and late trends among young people.


“The event is aimed at promoting traditional and modern fashion trends to the youth and elderly of the nation of Botswana by launching a clothing brands which infuses the two in style, Tswana Fusion Clothing Label,” he explained. The event also aims to bring together local Fashion, Beauty and Hair industries with the goal of celebrating fashion, creating a vibrant market by linking manufacturers, retailers and the end users together.


Latest fashion trends inspired by cultural fashion designs and the urban fashion designs will be displayed. “We will be bringing latest winter fashion closer to the people, the event will end with an after party. It will be themed around designs, displaying, shopping and being stylish this coming winter,” he explained. People should look out for unique designs, which are custom made.


“The Tswana Fashion clothing label design will not be seen anywhere apart from the one owner who buys them and the brand is protected which and the style can’t be copied. The outfits displayed will be fully incorporated with 100% leather which insures durability and quality,” he highlighted. The event will also host an after party featuring a lot of fun activities, red carpet, cocktails and fashion frenzy including a winner for best dressed for the dress code competition.


“The event will mainly be focused on the launch of the Tswana Fusion clothing label which will be full of exciting outfits to suit all your fashion needs and wants, from shirts, tops, suits, winter outfits, work outfits, casual outfits. Partaking also on the display will be YOLI Sports Clothing store located at main mall by Setlhareng.com and Mrs. Boitshepo who is a fashion designer and stylist,” he added. Chikumo further said that, they want to give exposure to designers as well as models that their craft and talent may be seen by people.


“Mainly the designers and clothing stores involved in the Modern Tswana Fashion Week event will gain exposure as we have a vast growing following online and offline, and by so doing they will have increased sales of their products.  Our models mainly gain exposure from Modern,” he said. Tickets are available at Pro-ticket at Molapo Crossing and all Choppies Hypers in Gaborone. They sell at P200 (double ticket)  and P150 for singles. VIP tickets cost P450.
