After six years with Btv music program, Mokaragana, Karabo Seelo, affectionately known as Lehenza says he believes it is time for him to spread his wings further in search of new challenges. The presenter says he will leave the show two months before his contract ends to open himself up to growth, although he could not immediately disclose his next stop.

Seelo joined the show in 2012 when he was 21 years old at, taking over from great hosts in the mould of Joel Rebaone Keitumele. So far, he is the youngest host the show has ever had. At the time he joined the show, he was a student at Botswana Accountancy College (BAC) studying Business Entrepreneurship and Advertising. In an interview with Weekendlife he revealed that his reasons for leaving the show was primarily because he felt that the show had refined him and thus it was time he sought new challenges that would help him grow in other aspects of life.

“I left because I felt Mokaragana had so far brought the best out of me. I have grown. People with different experiences have come and went,” he said. Although his contract was to end on 6 May this year, he said he initially preferred to stay with the show for only 5 years. “Initially when I joined the show, I wanted to be there for five years to make an impact. Sometimes you need growth,” he added. Seelo further explained that his stay with Mokaragana was rather blissful and that he got the opportunity to be exposed to different things and different types of people.

“My experience with Mokaragana has been mind blowing. I have learned different things in the music industry, I have also learnt different things about different genres I never knew about. I had to work with different people with different attitude. Being able to work with this people has been amazing and mind blowing. I have also grown in terms of communicating with people, I had to grow to become a good speaker and I had the opportunity to speak to the whole nation of Botswana,” he said.

The 27 year old Tonota born entertainer explained that when he joined Mokaragana a lot of people doubted his ability to host the show. “There was so much expectation; people had mixed feelings about me hosting the show. There were many questions that aroused pertaining my ability to host the show. I was 21 and was the youngest presenter and people where a bit skeptical about my ability to uphold the brand of the show. During the first year it was a bit of a struggle but I managed to persevere,” he said.

The multitalented presenter will however not disappear from the media scenery; he insists we will continue to see him. “I doubt I will die off from the media. I did not get into the media by qualifications. God has put me there. I am going to be still much involved in the industry. Talent is a gift from God,” he said.

He further said criticism has gotten him thus far and that he uses criticism to better himself and his career. “Criticism is not much of a problem. It grows us. You just need to read between the lines and use that to grow. If you are in the media and you do not take criticism somehow you have been misplaced,” he said.

Seelo also refuted allegations that he was leaving the show to pursue the “call of God in his life”. “ No, that’s not true, when you are talking Mokaragana you are talking about talent, and God is the giver of talent and he loves talent,” he cleared the air. According to him, the journey has not been smooth sailing and is grateful to his fans who he said have supported him throughout the journey. “Thank you so much for your support, I did not leave the media industry. We are still together. Ke lebogela thotoetso, ba rotoetse Atamelang (Thank you for the support, continue giving the same support to Atamelang) just like you have been supporting me,” he said.
