P400 k Ford Ranger up for grabs at BTU 80th years anniversary celebration

One lucky winner will walk away with a brand new Ford Ranger valued at over P400 000 at the upcoming 80th anniversary for Botswana Teachers Union (BTU), the country’s oldest trade union.

BTU Secretary General Agang Gabana announced this week that, the Ford Ranger will be up for grabs at the draw scheduled for today (Saturday). Another winning opportunity is afforded to the second place, who will walk away with Toyota Corolla Quest 1.6. A third prize will see five winners walking away with P10 000 each. The competition, which is opened only to BTU active members, has been running since the first of 1st of July until end of October this year.

“We have gone to all the schools. This was to give our members opportunity to participate in the raffle,” said Gabana. To participate in the “BTU 80 Win a Car Completion” members were required to purchase a ticket for P250. Since the competition started two monthly winners have been announced, walking away with P500 each. Entrants were allowed to buy as many tickets as possible to increase their chances of winning. BTU will host the draw this week, where the winners will be revealed, but they will get their prizes at the big celebration billed for the 9th of December 2017, at Baisago Univeristy.

The draw, according to BTU is in line with the requirement of Gambling Authority. They wer limited to only 3000 tickets for raffle. The competition is not open to BTU employees and their nuclear family, “It is going to be a huge event. BTU is celebrating all the achievements of the past years. We are reflecting on the challenges that we have faced as well as focusing on the future,” said the BTU secretary general.He said as the union, the raffle is part of giving back to their members, who have embraced the competition.

BTU also announced that its membership of 22 000, including associate members are invited to participate in the celebrations. The SG also announced that as part of the celebrations, several activities were held to celebrate the anniversary, including a beauty contest which was open to all regardless of age.
