Cresta eyeing Ghanzi, Maun and Copperbelt

Cresta Hotels group is eyeing organic expansion into new promising areas as it seeks to increase its footprint. Speaking on the sidelines of a client appreciation cocktail dinner that was held this on Thursday, group chief executive Glen Stuchbury told BusinessPost the hotel chain is eyeing expansion opportunities in the Ghanzi, Maun and the Zambian copperbelt region.

Stuchbury, who is based at the head office of the group in Harare, Zimbabwe converged with other senior executives of the group from all branches, on Thursday night at Cresta Lodge Gaborone to host the groups clients in a client appreciation dinner dubbed Kgetsi ya Tsie.

Cresta Marakanelo is the operating company for the eight Cresta Hotels in Botswana. The company was established in 1987, when Cresta Hospitality was awarded the Management contract for the Marakanelo Hotels in Botswana by the Botswana Development Corporation.

From an initial portfolio of less than 100 rooms under management, the group now manages ten hotels i9n the country, including Cresta Lodge in Gaborone and the Group's flagship Mowana Safari Lodge which was opened in 1994.

The group owns Cresta Golfview Hotel in Lusaka, Zambia, has 78 air-conditioned bedrooms and four spacious Conference Facilities that can accommodate up to 300 delegates.

Cresta Marakanelo is jointly owned by the Botswana Government, through the Botswana Development Company, and TA Botswana.

TA Botswana is ultimately owned by TA Holdings Limited, a company listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange, with an investment portfolio that extends from Zimbabwe to Botswana, South Africa, Uganda and Nigeria.
